"Crewman Devore, sir. She was caught sending an unauthorized transmission to Internal affairs. permission to interrogate her, sir."
he waited promptly for Xenna's reply. he had been following Crewman Devore for some time now. Now that he had proof, he was eager to get any knowledge out of her that the might have.

"Now you're calling me sir? Ask the captain, like **** if I care! Do what you want. And Fargo, you might wanna get to the medical bay." Xenna let out a ragged sigh. "And I haven't heard from the captain all day, I'll signal him..."

Braxton left Engineering and began looking for the captain. Suddenly, DeForest signaled him.
"what is it?"
"sir! Unauthorized shuttle launch in progess! I'm reading three lifesigns aboard!"
"who?"
"umm.. Crewmans DeVore and Marksky, and.. Captain Tobias!"
"On my way. Doctor Reynolds to Shuttlebay. The captain may be injured."
he made his way to the shuttlebay. As he got there, DeForest was there.
"I have a shuttle ready, sir. Should we launch Sir?"
"Not yet. I am waiting for the Doctor."
He arrived a few moments later, breathless. he barely had time to say "I'm here"
when Braxton dragged him into the shuttle & launched.

As the Shuttle shot from the bay doors, Braxton at the controls, it sped toward the fleeing shuttle.
"William, man weapons. Try to disable them."
"trying, Sir.. They are out of range at the moment."
"Trying to bring us in closer..."
As the shuttle reached within 65Km of the stolen shuttle, Braxton decided to inform someone of the hijack.
"Xenna," he said, "Come in."

"What do you want, Braxton?" Xenna replied.

"It appears Crewman DeVore and an accomplice have taken Captain Tobias hostage in a shuttlecraft. I am in pursuit in the Sea Deck Shuttle." Have we installed the Tractor beam yet?"

The attacks were not having much effect, and they themselves were taking more damage from rear facing plasma turrents.

"Uhh, I don't know." Xenna leaned over to Graash and tapped him on the shoulder. The Valron jumped and twittered something in its native language, then turned to Xenna.

"Yes Chief?"

"Did we install the tractor beam yet?"

Twitching, Graash's eyes darted around the room. "I think so, Miss Xenna, that was Ptlock's job..."

"Hey, keep your pants on for a sec, Braxton. I'm not sure. PTLOCK! Get over here!"

Fargo was back in the engine room in a flash.

"What the **** is going on?"

"Yeah, I installed it," Ptlock replied with a glare of annoyance.

"Cool. Yeah, Braxton. All is go."

A panel exploded.
"Foreward Shields down to ten percent!" DeForest Yelled over the noise.
"Keep you fire on the turrent. What is the status of their rear shield?"
"It's down, Sir"
"aknowledged, Xenna. Engage Tractor Beam when ready."

Braxton turned to Dr. Reynolds.
"Can you transport the Captain here?"
"if their shields are down.. I can try."
He tapped a few keys. Suddenly, Captain Tobias appeared on the Pad behind them, lying down and writhing.
Braxton jumped up.
"captain! are you alright?" Coming closer, it appeared he had been shot. the security officer bent down beside him. "Stay with me Sir!" he cried desperatly at his friend.
"john..."
"yes, captain?"
"it's not...her fault..." with his last breath, Captain Tobias passed on.
Braxton wiped away a tear and turned to the Doctor.
"transport me there, Reynolds."
'Sir, No, you can't!"
"Do It!"
He shook his head "alright..."
Braxton appeared on the other shuttle. they had been so busy try to get away, the two crewmen didn't notice him. He set his plasma phaser to Vaporize. Inching closer, he fired with deadly accuracy to the Back of Crewman Marksky's head. He was vaporized, screaming into oblivion. He pointed his phaser at DeVore as she turned around with the most frightened look he had ever seen.
"GET ON THE FLOOR!" he screamed at her.
She shoved her hands to the back of her head and just about threw herself on the floor. He saw she was crying silently. Stepping behind her, he grabbed the back of her shirt and pulled her (her choking) to her feet so fast you wouldn't have believed it. Phaser dug into her neck, he called the Doctor.
"two to beam out."

Xenna walked casually to the bridge and glanced down at the control panel.

"Hey Ptlock, which button is for the tractor beam?" she called.

"The purple one, puny human," he called back.

"I love you, too, babe," she yelled, then pressed the purple button and headed back to the engineering bay.

Braxton Watched both shuttles bieng guided into the Bay. He couldn't stop thinking about the late captain. How could this have happened? He knew that one: this was a pirate ship, with a pirate crew. Some people are just bound to be unloyal.
But what were the two crewmen trying to do?
Why did they decide to kill Cpatain Tobias?
These questions swirled in his head. He had to make sense of them. He went to sickbay, hoping for some miracle to Bring the captain back. no such thing occured. Doctor Reynolds had performed an autopsy to find the captain sedated when he was shot. Braxton supposed this was because the captain was not a frail man; he could easily have taken out two crewmen.
But he wondered who he should tell first. Making up his mind, he went to the ranking (so to speak)officer: Xenna. He approached her.
"Xenna," he began slowly, looking down, "I need to speak to you."
